The Greater Reykjavik area Sightseeing tour includes the most significant places in Reykjavik and its surrounding towns. We visit Bessastadir, the official residence of the president as well as Hafnarfjordur, the town where elves and humans live together in harmony. We visit the old fishing harbour and when it is possible; we visit the local fish market. In Reykjavik we go to the famous landmark Perlan, which is built on top of water tanks holding the city´s hot water supply. Here we enjoy the spectacular view over Reykjavik and it´s surroundings.
We go to Hofdi house where the important summit meeting of ex Presidents Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev took place in 1986, marking the beginning of the end of the cold war. We visit the University area, the old town centre where the Icelandic parliament Althingi is situated, the town hall and the lake Tjornin, with rich bird life all year around. Hallgrimskirkja church and the sculpture garden of Einar, who was inspired by the Nordic mythology and paganism. We will show you the sports and recreation area in Laugardalur, a geothermally heated outdoor swimming pool and sculptures garden of Asmundur Sveinsson. Guests are dropped off in the end of the tour at their hotels or restaurants of their choice.
